ABOUT US / CONTACT US The West Virginia Film Office (Film Office) is a section of the West Virginia Department of Commerce, Division of Tourism, and is a member of the Association of Film Commissioners International (www.afci.org). The content provided on the Film Office web site is designed to assist production personnel who are considering filming in West Virginia. We also hope visitors who have a general interest in the film and television industries will also enjoy browsing the site. MISSION The Film Office supports commerce by recruiting motion picture, television and related media productions to select West Virginia as a place to conduct business. Responsibilities of and services offered by the Film Office include:
SERVICES Ø Administering the West Virginia Film Industry Investment Act Ø Connecting clients to West Virginia's workforce and businesses Ø Acting as a liaison among clients and governmental agencies, communities and property owners Ø Scouting and photographing locations based on client needs; securing site access; assisting with permits Ø Assisting clients with mapping, augmented research and logistical and technical support; coordinate itineraries Ø Providing media and additional support as needed RESOURCES The Film Office publishes a Production Services Directory (PSD) which is an essential resource for anyone filming in West Virginia. The PSD connects clients with West Virginia's workforce and businesses, contains filming guidelines and much more. The digital Locations Library, at www.wvfilm.com, allows hundreds of locations to be searched and viewed over the Internet. This essential and always expanding resource provides film industry personnel, or anyone, the ability to quickly search for the perfect location for filming. Note to property owners: Contact the Film Office if you are interested in making your property available for filming opportunities. The Mountain State's Cinematic Footprints brochure captures the entertainment industry's fondness for West Virginia's rich stories and scenic locations. It also highlights films that were made in the state, films with West Virginia story elements, famous state connections, historic theaters, movie trivia, film festivals and more.
